Easy hosting of multiple companies on one 3CX instance.
Following the pre-announcement earlier this year, today marks the official launch of 3CX Multi-Tenant giving partners who are managing smaller customers the opportunity to move away from dedicated customer infrastructure.
Multi-tenant – or multi-company capability – allows easy and profitable hosting of many different companies on one single 3CX instance. It’s ideal for 3CX Partners that don’t want to host dedicated instances for smaller customers such as SOHO/SMB style businesses with up to 10 users and basic to moderate communications requirements.
We’re also pleased to offer an entry level license requirement 16SC PRO. This makes 3CX Multi-Tenant a profitable choice for even the smallest partners with 5 customers and up.
We’re certain the commercial benefit of a single platform for multiple companies – where provisioning and set-up is simple and straightforward – will be warmly welcomed. We will continue to build upon this momentum with further improvements to the product in the forthcoming updates 4 and 5.
Reduced Hosting Costs and Management
Dedicated instances have become more expensive to run – 2 CPUs are required – along with ongoing management of security and updates. So the only way to house SMB customers is to put them on 3CX Multi-Tenant.
The 3CX multi-tenant capability keeps each company separate by assigning them to dedicated 3CX departments. The multi-tenant switch ensures each department is isolated and invisible to others, keeping each company’s data and operations fully separate.
Get Started From as Little as a 16SC PRO License
Although we had discussed an entry point of 32SC ENT licenses earlier in the year, by popular request resellers can get started with minimal investment of a 16SC PRO license – so even smaller partner companies can enjoy the benefits of 3CX Multi-Tenant as a profitable solution for partners with 5 customers and up.
Licensed Like Any Other 3CX License
In general, 3CX Multi-Tenant is licensed in the same way as any other 3CX license – and you can start with a 16SC PRO or above. The cost – which you determine – can be spread out over the customers you configure. As you grow your multi-tenant system, you’ll upgrade your license like any other installation. When there is excess capacity for one customer, Partners can use the excess for the next, letting you scale across multiple customer companies for maximum efficiency.
It’s important to note that NFR licenses cannot be used for multi-tenant hosting.
No Need to Register Your SMB Customers
All 3CX licenses have to be registered in the name of the customer/license owner. However, in the case of a multi-tenant edition the Partner/MSP becomes the customer. Each individual company hosted on the multi-tenant will not be considered 3CX customers. All responsibility for customer communication is taken by the multi-tenant license owner. This is reflected in the management interface.
You Decide If and What Management to Delegate
Decide whether you want to delegate management to the customer or not. Group owner can do a lot himself – or if you prefer – you do everything. You can also decide whether they do the SIP trunk management or you limit it to add a user / change a user.
Leverage Your Own SIP Trunks
It’s possible to take a single SIP trunk – even generic and unsupported ones – and use them across customers. For example, with a single SIP trunk you can assign DIDs to the various extensions and queues in the tenants. You can do this as a system owner and the customers will not have access to trunk configuration.
How to Set Up Your 3CX Multi-Tenant
To learn how to set up the 3CX multi-tenant feature, refer to the 3CX Multi-Tenant setup document.
There are two ways of creating tenants:
- Manually by creating a department and then assigning / creating users in the department. It’s also possible to assign the company owner Group ownership rights so the company can do its own system management.
- Programmatically by creating tenants programmatically using the new 3CX XAPI configuration API.
